I want to be a Vet! (Well at the age of 6)
Although after leaving school I was lost, I went straight into work as I didn’t know what I wanted to do! I thought I wanted to be a hairdresser so went and trained at 18 but that wasn’t for me. I then decided to go back to animal thoughts and work towards becoming a RSPCA Inspector, so got a job at a kennels in the worst time of the year – Winter! I worked through all the cold months for £4 something a hour to finally give up in the Spring. Then came more run of the mill office jobs, pub work until I went for a job vacancy at the local hospital for a Ward Clerk and got it. I’ve been doing this job for the last 7 years in between and around 2 kids and I do love it – it’s interesting on a ward and even though the tasks are the same, no day is ever the same.
I’ve always wanted to be a something – a professional, and a Ward Clerk is not that! So, I have had the passion to become a midwife before I got pregnant with my first but decided I wanted to experience it for myself before I thought about becoming one. I thought I’d wait till she grew up – then decided to have another baby and am now thinking I’ll wait till he grows up!!
I’m at the stage where little man has 2 years at preschool now, thus I have 2 years to get Uni ready.
I’m scared – Can I be a midwife? Can I be responsible for multiple lives solely? Only one way to find out!
1 – Access to Midwifery – Distance learning – My first stop to get on the journey at a cost of £922 to be studied up to or over a year
That should be do-able, planned start date 2013
