I have decided I’m a bit bored of cooking and as my family love slow cooker dinners I have decided to use it everyday for a week. I don’t think it’s just a seasonal piece of equipment and it means not standing cooking when the sun (if it comes out again) is out then I’m all for it.
So I decided what I wanted to cook, bought all the ingredients and bagged each meal with all ingredients – labelled, then put them all in the freezer. Simples…
I have also frozen baps and wraps to go with some and have noted on the bag what goes with what. Some I will do mash or Jackets, but I also have microwave rice (Birds Eye Rice Fusions) and chips (Fries to go) for quick sides. Then beans, peas or microwave veg (Birds Eye Field Fresh)
I’m not a great fan of microwave chips but I hate the way chips cook unevenly in the oven and maybe will eventually get a healthy fryer.
I was inspired by 40 meals in 4 hours and all recipes linked to are the ones I used
I wish I had the space for that many!
My slow cooker is a basic cheap one that does the job, I’m hoping if these meals are hits I will upgrade to a slightly bigger one
I do do other meals in the slow cooker but not prepped for instance Cherry Cola Gammon, Fish Pie Filling and Cottage Pie Filling – I reckon I will prob try out a Spag Bol one too. Both the latter could be bagged and frozen I would have thought.
