With the summer weather coming soon, it is a good idea to get started on thinking about your outside space. You might have acres of land or just a small patio or balcony. Whatever you have, there is something that everyone can do to spruce up the space and get it ready for summer. The sun can come and then quickly go, so it is a good idea to have done a bit of the graft now, so you can enjoy the sun when it arrives. You don’t have to spend a lot either.
Think about buying some garden accessories to brighten up the space. You could get new furniture for outside if you have the space. If not, new planters, window boxes or even some pretty outdoor fairy lights would do the trick. Things that help to make the space tidier, cleaner and prettier are worth getting. So be careful not to clutter the space with too many bits. If you have children, an outdoor storage box might be a good idea if you don’t have a shed. Then you can store their outdoor toys or paddling pool away until they are needed. If all sorts of bits are strewn over the garden, it can just look messy.
You want your garden to be a nice place to relax and unwind when it is sunny. So think about the space and if there is room for a table and chairs, parasol and perhaps even a sun lounger. I know the UK isn’t exactly St. Tropez but we do get some good days of sunshine and they are even better if you can top up the tan. Do you have a barbeque set at the moment? If not, it is worth investing in. Eating al fresco is one of the best things and it is fun for all of the family.
Is there anything you can do to your outdoor space to clean it up? You could mop down any decking or fretwork or give the outside of your home a lick of paint. Getting rid of the dirt and moss that can gather over the winter months is a must to make your outdoor space spruced up and looking fresh. If you need to get new decking or get your decking replaced then make sure that you use composite decking suppliers to get the best quality.
If you have a vegetable patch, then it is a good idea to get planting. There are some things that are best to plant now; that will be ready in the summer. These are things like strawberries, gooseberries, courgettes, carrots, lettuce and spring onions. Some of these can be planted straight away outside if you don’t think there is a chance of frost. If is is still a little frosty overnight where you are, then you can keep them indoors for a few weeks.
Do you anything in particular planned over summer? I’d love to hear if you’ll be giving your garden a clean up and spruce up.
