There was a time when anything to do with superheroes was viewed as something for the kids, even though some of those kids might have been grown-up men.
Today, though, with the trend for superhero blockbuster movies and the huge success of the Marvel movie franchise, we’re going through a phase where we all love the superhero genre and we can all enjoy it together. But if you’ve been behind the curve on superhero action lately, don’t worry, it’s not too late to join in the fun.
In the next few months, there will be three new superhero movies being released. In the meantime, there are other ways to get up to speed with this cycle of superheroes.
Familiar faces make it onto bgo’s top five superhero slots list
Anyone who plays games on the internet will know the choice of gaming themes is almost endless, but did you know that some of the most popular slots games are based on superheroes? Indeed, online gaming site bgo has come up with a top five superhero slots list, providing some top line info on each game. The top five slots include characters such as The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and The Avengers, as well as perennial favourite Spider Man.
Playing superhero slots at sites such as bgo, Royal Panda and NetBet not only gives you an entertaining way of seeing all the characters away from the big screen, it’s also a way of having short blasts of exciting gaming fun that just might win you some cash. And if you’re not up for real money gaming, you can always opt to play them in demo mode instead.
Each of the superhero slots has special bonus rounds, with different ways to get free spins and multipliers, so try them all out to see which you like playing the best. Slots are a great filler game, ideal for playing when you’ve put the kettle on, or you’re sitting in the car waiting for the kids to come out of school. As the outcome is down to chance, there’s no stress in playing the games. So, they can be great for those times when you just want to zone out for a minute and watch what happens.
Super-sized movie action
As mentioned earlier, there are three big superhero movies up for release this spring. First up is Deadpool, a character that comes from the Marvel stable, but now has his own movie. Deadpool is a mercenary with superhuman healing abilities.

If Deadpool sounds too far removed from the superhero knowledge of your youth, perhaps you’ll skip this movie and wait to see Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice instead. Yes, two of the biggest superheroes of all time will be coming up against each other in this movie, where both try to defeat the other in order to enforce their own version of justice. The idea of superheroes fighting each other is one you have to get your head around, but the movie will go a long way to help answer that question that most little boys ask at some stage. Who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman? If you’re getting these kinds of questions from your kids, maybe it’s worth booking a sitter and going to see the movie in March.
Then in May, there’ll be another superhero movie being released – Captain America: Civil War. This time, Captain America will come to blows with Iron Man – and it’s probably worth catching up on the storylines by watching the earlier movies, Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, if you want to know what’s going on in the latest release.
Of course, there are other ways to get in the superhero mood. You could have a superhero-themed fancy dress party for the grown-ups and the kids – making costume choice an easy one for all involved. Or you could play one of the console games that have been developed to coincide with all the superhero movies that have been released over the past decade or so. If you’re feeling old-fashioned, you could even read a superhero comic, but there’s no need to go out and buy one – you’ll find them all available to read online at numerous different online comic book sites.
