On a very wet and windy Saturday night we travelled from Weston to Bristol to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at Jamie’s Italian in Park Street, Bristol. Having never visited any of the branches, we were really looking forward to going – especially with Italian being our favourite cuisine, and we weren’t disappointed!
We arrived early and were offered a glass of complimentary cider that they were offering as a new addition to their range, then we were promptly shown to our booth – seated within the restaurant. I loved the industrial look and feel to this floor with bare brick work and globe lighting.
A wide range of food was on offer and it was hard to decide what to eat – we don’t normally go for starters but we thought we’d go for it and ordered Italian Nacho’s – Crispy fried ravioli stuffed with mozzarella, ricotta & Bella Lodi, served with spicy Sicilian tomato sauce and Ultimate garlic bread – Warm artisan buttermilk buns with garlic butter, Bella Lodi & rosemary. I’ve never thought about frying ravioli but boy, was it lovely.
After stuffing ourselves with the starters we were ready for our main courses of Lamb Ragu – which was one of the specials and Gennaro’s Famous Porchetta. Again, amazing flavours and I would definitely have the Lamb Ragu again, never have I put Lamb with pasta but it something I’ll have to attempt to recreate.
With both of us having a massive sweet tooth we couldn’t turn down the chance to try some deserts of the Epic Chocolate Brownie and Amalfi Lemon Meringue Cheesecake. The brownie was lovely with ice cream and caramelised popcorn but I couldn’t help the yummy noises with the Cheesecake O M G absolutely gorgeous!! The combination of Italian meringue, mascarpone & lemon cheesecake served with lemon curd & blackcurrants was one of the best things I’ve tasted in a while.
All in all I thought it was a restaurant with a great atmosphere, family friendly but still maintaining a high quality restaurant feel, the prices were super reasonable in my opinion – with all our food, 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 soft drinks coming in at under £70! And we can’t leave out how funky the toilets were!
