If you are someone who works full time and who has children to take care of, chances are you’ve almost always got a to-do list as big as your arm. Knowing just where to begin with it can be daunting enough as it is – but there really is no better feeling than finally ticking something off that list. Household-related issues are normally pretty high up in terms of thing we know we should do, but that we never get around to doing. However, it is when all these tasks add up that you may end up with a problem. As you ignore the maintenance work you should be doing, your home may start to become uncomfortable, or even start to look dilapidated. When your home starts to look and feel this way, it can make you want to give up on it completely. But even though it might seem like a lot of effort at the time, finally getting these household jobs out of the way can lead to you having a much more livable and comfortable home.
Nearly every home ends up suffering from a squeaky floorboard or two in their lifetimes. But if your’s have got to the point where you can’t take it anymore, stop putting it off and take action! Not only can the constant squeaking be really annoying, but it can also be dangerous, as the internal structure of your home could be becoming weaker. Consider adding some additional screws to your floorboards to reinforce them and check each joint to make sure that the support is adequate – it should be firm, not springy. Failing all that (and providing there is no serious structural issue at hand) you can also silence squeaky floorboards with talcum powder.
Broken air conditioning
A busted A/C unit is something that many of us don’t even think about until summer comes around. By then, we have already spent weeks sweltering in the unbearable heat while we wait for an electrician have a free slot in which to fix it. Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, make sure you carry out your air conditioning maintenance early in the year, not when you are absolutely desperate for it. This will save you a lot of hassle and mean that your home is cool and comfortable for the summer months ahead.
A stained bathroom
Soap scum and water stains can cause huge aesthetic problems in many modern bathrooms. While such issues are relatively harmless to our health (unless mold develops), it can lead to our bathrooms appearing a little dirty – and no one wants to step into a dirty bath or shower. Keep on top of soap and water stains by always rinsing your bath out after use and if the problem persists, use the old favorite to tackle it with: lemon juice and baking soda. This cleaning miracle is so cheap to make you have no excuse not to get your Marigolds on and give it a try for yourself – it will make your bathroom shine like never before.
