In the rolling hills of the Mendips, on the north shore of Chew Valley Lake, sits The Community Farm, an organic farm that plays host to a weekend long family festival that turns into the best party ever. From the 2nd – 4th of September, the farm bursts into life for Valley Fest; three days of dancing in wellies and sequins and smiling till your cheeks ache.
The brainchild of BBC farmer of the year and organic champion Luke Hasell, Valley Fest is set beside Chew Valley Lake in the stunning south west countryside. With a focus on fun for all the family Valley Fest offers plenty of good music, great vibes, fantastic food and loads for kids to do… including the odd tractor ride.
The aptly named ‘Run Wild’ area is packed with fun for young festive-goers, with everything from circus skills and wildlife hunts to craft sessions and puppet shows and there’s even the chance to toast marshmallows over an open fire.
Valley Fest is all about food and celebrating the land so there is a midnight feast planned for Saturday night and a communal Sunday Lunch on a huge picnic blanket cooked by some of the most famous chefs to come out of the South West. On the Chew Stage the lovely people from the Yeo Valley Canteen will be cooking up a storm alongside chefs, butchers, farmers and local producers. There’ll even be cow milking classes, if that tickles your fancy.
If you’re not up for morning milking sessions you can always head across the farm to the Village Green, which is dedicated to luxurious festival pampering and tranquillity. Here, morning milking is replaced with morning yoga, tractor rides become Gong Baths and health and wellbeing is the main focus.
Festival goers can start, or end, their day with a dip in a steaming hot tub; followed up with a relaxing sauna in the tranquil Spa Safari to sooth away any symptoms of the previous night’s celebrations, and with hot showers and a dedicated pamper tent you can easily get ready for the next night’s festivities.
The Village Green spa and wellbeing area will also feature a team of experts from Weleda, whose highly trained experts will be on hand to offer a range of luxury beauty and wellbeing treatments that’ll leave you feeling renewed and rejuvenated.
Tickets for the weekend are £80 or £40 for children under 16, plus booking fee. Nippers under 6 go free! A family weekend ticket with 2 adults and children is £200, making it the perfect way to end the summer. Limited tickets still available here
