I know, I know it’s September!! But I actually started thinking about Christmas in July! I like to have a handmade Christmas and that takes organisation (or running around panicking last minute – which is the reality) I have started to plan what I want to make and using my pinterest boards to keep track of my ideas – and also I want to try and finally make it to do a Christmas fair so I have been trying to make for that too!
There’ll be three babies having their first christmas this year and can’t wait to make their gifts! And that has got my in the mood to make baby things for the market stall. Once I’ve decided what I’m making for everyone (and I don’t just crochet things!) I also love to do craft swops or buy handmade from others. Last year a hospital colleague had a stall with handmade bird houses her and her husband make and they made a lovely gift for my mum, mum in law and step mum in law.
Then it’s to start thinking about Christmas Eve preparations – I maybe working Christmas Eve but the magic happens at night and for the last couple of years I have done Xmas Eve hampers and the kids love them as do I!
- New Pj’s each usually xmas themed (great for the photos on Christmas morning)
- Bath bombs
- New toothbrushes
- Xmas dvd, book and a game
- Reindeer food (watch out for a post for these & the snowman soup)
- Snowman soup & Christmas themed biscuits & mugs
- And not forgetting the most important santa key so he can get in to leave the presents!
As for Christmas day prep we haven’t quite decided if we’re here or somewhere else! I think we will probably be here as we weren’t last year but it’s hard wanting to spend it will all the family but our house just isn’t big enough to house 12 adults and 6 children let alone the fact my oven is tiny!!
If I do cook I like to go over the top and do a Jamie Christmas with every kind of veg and starters and multiple deserts as well as a buffet for tea! If you haven’t guessed yet I love Christmas!! And not forgetting the all important Christmas day outfits – I think it’s especially important to dress smart as it’s a time to celebrate and I for one will be getting a gorgeous dress to wear – not forgetting the important apron for when cooking and I’m sure the kids will be dressed up nice and smart also
Writing this has got my all excited and Christmassy!! I’m off to make some Christmas decs now!
Would love to hear if you have any Christmas traditions and what do you do on the day?
