Inspired by a magazine ad I saw about not enough hours in the day I thought I would share the advice…
We squash so much in our lives these days, not only do we have household chores we also try and get hobbies, social networking and blogging in too! (Well I do!)
Don’t be busy – Never say you’re busy, arrive and leave on time, book your holiday time well in advance, make some time for preparation and catch up time each week, and most importantly take some time to do nothing each day and enjoy it.
Sometimes we take on too much, it’s important to be conscious of what we already have planned and don’t be afraid to say no or delegate things that can be.
Try not to use the word busy, tell people exactly why like you’re too tired because of work or you’ve been busy consoling a family member etc. People will understand.
Technology can use all your time up, emailing, tweeting, facebooking. You can’t even manage to go 30 mins without checking facebook! So block out time to check emails, I like to set the alarm earlier and check my emails in the morning before I get out of bed – I then flag the ones I need to act on and then delete the rest once read.
Also set time to turn off your phone, if I’m honest I never switch mine off but I do have my set to go into do not disturb mode from 11pm – 7am so no alerts come through.
If you get through your to do list, you can’t be doing enough right? But it’s good to be bored, this is when we think of new things – where creativity comes in and we start to think of new possibilities and events.
So…
- Don’t be afraid to say no and tell the truth
- Plan time slots for things each day especially doing nothing time
- Turn your phone off at a set time at night
Would love to hear your tips for using your time more efficiently…
