Now you’ve redesigned your garden to reflect your home, you want to show it off, right? Well, the summer time offers the perfect opportunity to do so — but with the summer suns on the horizon in the next few months, it’s time to start now if you want to make sure your garden is going to be ‘host friendly’ for when the time comes for your first garden party of the summer.
You should, if the last dregs of the winter weather have finally disappeared, begin to feed your lawn on a regular basis with granular feed. This should start as soon as possible, and continue even throughout the summer months, so as not to let your grass look like it is suffering from a serious case of wear and tear. If moss is an issue on your grass, you should seek to eradicate that annoyance as quickly as possible before taking to regrowing and thickening any patches or areas on your lawn that aren’t up to scratch.
You could also consider having a decking area or patio spring up so that your future guests can have a comfortable place to sit and be merry. A patio is a paved outdoor area and they are easy to maintain, if you lay it with good quality paving; however, proving a decking area will give your garden that extra bit of pizzazz and will really impress your guests. With decking, however, comes a lot of responsibilities. For instance, you need to make sure that the area is not prone to being slippery, as you don’t want any of your guests to have to leave your house and go straight to the hospital, do you? A solution for a slippery deck is to buy anti-slip decking paint and non-slip varnish. However, if the weather is hot enough, your deck should be protected from being slippery because of the fact that the sun will dry and mildew on it and give it a decent grip; the moment the rain hits (and it will), however, you must take action. What you must also take action against is the darkness. It gets dark every single night, so you can never avoid that like you can bad weather, but you can light up the area so as to make sure your guests don’t fall over (especially if they’ve had a drink). Decking lights offer you the chance to carry the party on, even when the night has fallen, by lighting up the area with LED lights. As well as keeping your grass looking nice and introducing a patio or decking area, you should also invest in a good barbecue set, on which you can also prepare vegetarian options, in case you didn’t know. If you, or your guests would prefer a vegetarian option to a burger, then make sure to check some of these great recipes and ideas.
Once your garden is ready, you can get stuck into the good stuff: eating good food, having good times and entertaining!
