For a family a beach holiday is perfect. There are plenty of good deals around, so it is relatively easy to keep the cost down. Plus, kids love the beach. Even after a week, they still want to spend the whole day playing by the sea. While they play, make sandcastles and paddle you can take it in turns to chill out under an umbrella with a book. It really is an idyllic holiday. All you need to do is to make sure that you kit everyone out properly.
Check everyone´s swimwear still fits
Well before you are due to go, get everyone to try on their swimming costumes. You want to make sure that it all fits and that it is in a good state of repair. It is much better than having to buy something at the resort. The prices are typically much higher there. It is much cheaper to buy it online, in your home country. Just check out this swimwear here and you will soon see what I mean. It really is not expensive, certainly far cheaper than what you can buy at the resort.
For your little ones, a swimsuit that covers most of them up may be best. It is tricky getting hold of them to put enough sun cream on them. Plus, when they are in and out of the water, it soon washes off. You can read about how UV protective swimsuits work here, so you can work out what is best for your children.
Sunglasses and hats
Everyone, no matter how young, needs to protect their eyes from the sun. It is important to make sure everyone has a good pair of sunglasses and a hat with a brim.
Sun cream and lip balm
You need at least one bottle of high factor sun cream. Again, it is usually best to buy it before you leave home. Most of the time doing so will work out cheaper. Plus, it ensures that everyone is protected from the first morning on. If you arrive in a hot destination during daylight hours, be sure to make everyone put some sun protection on before you leave the airport.
A lot of people forget to protect their lips. Doing so is very important, the skin on your lips is very thin and sensitive to damage, so it needs to be properly protected.
Even if you are planning to hire sun beds, everyone will need a towel. Most hotels do not allow you to take theirs to the beach. If you are traveling abroad, consider investing in some micro towels. They are good enough to lie on yet weigh a fraction of what a traditional towel does. Plus, you can roll them up and fit them into quite a small space.
A basic first aid kit
Packing a small aid first kit is also a good idea. If one of you cuts themselves, it is good to be able to wash it out and apply some antiseptic cream and apply a plaster.
