Can you imagine how great it would be to escape to your very own tropical island? You’d be able to relax while sunbathing on the beach or take a long paddle in crystal-clear waters. And you wouldn’t have to worry about anyone else disturbing your idyl! Unfortunately, we can’t all afford our own island, and so this vision of the perfect tropical island might not really be achievable. It’s still possible to escape to a beautiful island, you just might have to share yours with a few other tourists!
So, do you think you fancy a trip to a gorgeous island for your next vacation? It’s a great idea, especially if you pick the perfect island for you! There are islands out there that are great for a quiet relaxing trip away, while others feature awesome nightlife scenes and plenty of daytime activities. Perhaps one of the following matches your idea of the perfect island getaway.
Orkney Islands, Scotland
When we think of Scotland, we might not associate it with tropical islands. It’s true, it’s not the best destination for brilliant weather, but there is still a lot of beauty on the Orkney Islands. Orkney is an archipelago made up of a number of different islands, and they all feature lush landscapes and bracing coastlines. It’s a brilliant location for hiking, and there is also a lot of history to discover on the many islands. For instance, you could visit Skara Brae, a Neolithic village that is older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids. To find out more about the islands’ history, visit Stromness Museum and St. Magnus Cathedral.
Would you rather a trip to a tropical island? Thankfully, there are many of them dotted around the world and one of the most popular with tourists has to be Java in Indonesia. Even though the country is made up of thousands of tiny islands, Java takes the biscuit for a number of reasons. Firstly, it’s the perfect trip if you are traveling on a budget as you can stay in one of the reasonably priced apartments on https://www.rumah.com/rumah-disewa/di-area-bandung-idjb01. When it comes to daytime activities, there is certainly plenty to see and do. Firstly, you could head to the Borobudur Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that, you might want to hike through some of the island’s lush rainforest or visit the bustling capital city of Jakarta.
For the true tropical island experience, you will want to spend a couple of weeks on Hawaii’s Maui island. Not too long ago, this island was seen as quite an exclusive destination, and was the vacation of choice for many well-heeled individuals, including a lot of Hollywood celebrities. However, there has since been quite a few mid-range accommodation options open on the island, and it has suddenly become a lot more affordable. The island has some truly spectacular beaches, and you will find plenty of surf schools, including http://www.mauiwaveriders.com, so you can hit the waves even if you are a complete novice.

Friday feels! 🗺: Wineglass Bay, Tasmania, Australia • #friday #friyay #fridayvibes #weekendmood #wineglassbay #hiking #throwback #flashbackfriday #roadtrip #bluehues #ocean #blueskies #happytime #travelholic #traveldiary #seeaustralia #australia #tasmania #tasmaniagram #pointlookout #freycinetnationalpark #nationalpark #datview #visitaustralia #tassiestyle #colesbay #scenery_lovers #travel_captures #doesntgetbetterthanthis #godscreation
Fancy a trip to the other side of the world? If you’ve always wanted to visit Australia, may I recommend the island of Tasmania. It might not be as popular as the likes of Melbourne and Sydney, but it has a lot going for it. There is a lot of natural beauty on the island, and it’s the perfect destination for travelers who love to hike and get out into nature. Freycinet National Park is on the eastern coast and features a gorgeous granite mountain range. There are also lots of secluded bays and beaches where you can soak up all the sun. One of the most popular tourist sites on the whole of the island has to be the famous Cradle Mountain. You’ll be able to hike up the mountain or try some boulder scrambling if you are feeling a bit more adventurous.
Mauritius is an island that is really popular with couples who are on their honeymoons as it features many sophisticated five-star resorts and boutique hotels. Don’t worry, though, you don’t have to be celebrating recent nuptials to visit this fantastic island. One of the most popular activities on the island has to be swimming with dolphins. There are a few different centers that offer this. There are also a couple of golf courses on the island where you can practice your putting skills. If that all sounds a bit too boring, fear not – Mauritius is also renowned for its great hiking trails! But if you do stay in a full-board resort, you might not feel like leaving. After all, you’ll have plenty of pamper facilities and other cool activities all under one roof.
Europe has its fair share of islands dotted around its numerous coastlines, and one of the best has to be the Greek island of Kos. Sure, there are the usual beautiful beaches that you would expect from any island in the Mediterranean, but there is so much more as well. For example, you could spend a day at the fascinating Antimachia Castle, which was used as a safe haven for residence during Turkish raids in the 15th century. There’s also an eerie deserted village up in the hills of Mount Dikeos, which many tourists wander around and take in the strange environment.

Capri might be one of the more expensive islands to visit on this list, but it will certainly be worth it! You will get to indulge in delicious Italian food and spend the day lounging on sugar-white sand on its beaches. A cocktail on the pretty Piazzetta is also a must-do! If you ever over-indulge, you can always walk up to the top of Mount Solar. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy the walk – there’s also a chairlift that will take you to the top.
Has one of these islands got you excited for an island adventure? Which one will you visit?!
